Book Cover Art

Diane had another first this past winter when she was asked to create an image for the cover of her husband’s new book about the Burnt Store Road area. Graham’s book, entitled Where Do We Live? Research by a Seasonal Resident of Burnt Store Road, tracks the history and environment of the area between Punta Gorda and Cape Coral, Florida. Diane’s painting is a representation of the original Kennedy & Darling Trading House which was located on the east shore of Charlotte Harbor between 1845 and 1849. This store was the inspiration for the name Burnt Store. The sloop in the top center of the painting is the Julia Ann, which supplied the store from Tampa. Behind it in the background is the Boca Grande Pass. The stylized sign post lists the local communities which have grown up on either end of Burnt Store Road.
