Oscar is a Celebrity

Those of you who follow this blog may recall the introduction of Oscar the Octupus in a July 2016 post. He is a magnificent 82 pound three dimensional shell art sculpture which Diane spent over 400 hours imagining then creating. Folks at the Sanibel Shell Show got wind of Oscar last year and invited him to participate as a special exhibit in the March 7-9, 2019 82nd Annual Show. Not only was he given a prize central position between the Artistic and Scientific exhibit rooms, but his image was used extensively in the promotional materials for the show. At last count the image below had appeared in at least five Lee County, Florida newspapers and just as many websites.

When the Fox 4 Television network decided to do a series of features on the show on its Friday, March 8, 2019 local morning show Oscar and his creator were natural interview candidates. See below for a link to Oscar and Diane’s day in the spotlight.
