Diane has completed three wonderful new paintings this past week and they have been posted in the Skiffs and Dinghies gallery, even though the watercraft illustrated are in fact Canoes.
“Portage” tells the story of a canoe left beside a small waterfall while the paddlers have gone ahead across the portage with their gear.
“New Ridge Bridge” has been painted from a photo taken in August as we explored the Genesee River near Rochester. The canoe is a whimsy as we were actually speeding along in our motorized inflatable dinghy when Diane spotted the perfectly reflected span of the bridge.
“Where are the Boys?” was inspired by a photo taken by Graham during a whitewater canoe trip in 2009. The missing “boys” swimming below their canoe were an unnamed brother combo.
